Aim

To develop an understanding of the prevalence, nature, effects and impacts of domestic and sexual abuse.  To discuss service provision, high-light key agencies and their roles and to consider support skills.

Objectives

  • Increase knowledge of what constitutes domestic and sexual abuse and the prevalence in society
  • Examine the possible impacts, effects, indicators and outcomes of domestic and sexual abuse
  • Raise awareness of the importance of working in partnership and promoting good practice
  • Consider local support agencies/services and their roles

 Learning Outcomes

On completing this training participants will:

  • Understand the complexities surrounding domestic and sexual abuse
  • Recognise the difficulties for women leaving or staying away from an abuser 
  • Know how to give appropriate and effective support
  • Begin to consider implementing new practice in the work place
  • Understand  the roles of other agencies and inter-agency working
